Forsake Facebook and reboot your life?

Last week husband and I decided to give up telly and Facebook. Recently we have spent an alarming number of hours slumped in front of box sets while simultaneously flicking endlessly through our phones like lazy zombies.

So, enough is enough. We have banned telly, hidden the remote controls and we are only allowed to use FB for work purposes.

The results have been, well, astonishing.

In the last few days I've done more than the rest of January combined. The flat is clean, mouldy corners have been swept and painted, cooking is going on people! The car has been hoovered, I've finished two books that I started in 2013 and I'm on to a third.

Turns out if you're not wasting hours of your life watching Tony Soprano being a bellend...or scrolling through the never-ending Facebook feed, there's an awful lot of things you suddenly have the time and inclination to get round to. Essentially, you stop worrying about what everyone else is up to and start considering how to spend your days.

I've got a newfound enthusiasm for getting on with fluffy pony who looks bored and ready to play. My new roller has arrived and every day that isn't downright dangerous weather-wise hereafter will be employed in tinkering away with Zedny.

If I get my own way we could be PSG in 40 days and nights. Ahahahahahaha ahahha! You'll see I haven't lost my sense of humour.

I did squeeze in a ride this morning and it was joyful - 30 minutes of quiet schooling in a large, freshly rolled indoor arena on my beloved Bramble - so safe and sweet you could let your nan ride her to Lidl.

And on Thursday evening I did my first session with Crook AC. It's not everyone's idea of fun to stumble up and down hills for an hour wearing a head torch and sweating but I enjoyed it. A lot. I feel more prepared for when society crumbles and anarchy rules.

I'm not saying this plan would suit everyone, horses for courses and all that, but if you're stuck in a rut it might be worth a try.
